Truck trailer flips

16/05/2008 10:32:00 AM
ARARAT - A truck driver escaped injury after a trailer towed by a truck flipped over in Barkly Street on Friday night.

The accident occurred around 6pm on Friday, with the truck travelling east along Barkly Street.

Leading Senior Constable Bryan Anderson from Ararat Police said it appears the rear trailer began to fish-tail and swerve, with the truck trailer tipping over, spilling rubble and bitumen on the road.

LSC Anderson said the accident is being investigated by the North Grampians Traffic Management Unit.

The truck was travelling from roadworks on the Western Highway.

``The rubble that was spilled onto the road was cleaned up by Ararat Rural City Council,'' LSC Anderson said.

``The road was blocked by VicRoads for about five hours.''

The Western Highway bypass via High Street enabled traffic to continue to flow.
